Stuck in the Middle with You

What can you do when you are stuck? I know what some of you are thinking, but no, you should not throw your laptop out of the nearest window. Even though I know it can be tempting and may seem like a really good idea in your moments of frustration: Do. Not. Do. It.

Here are some suggestions on things you can do to get your brain unstuck:
1)    Take a walk. Get outside into the fresh air and let your brain breathe. Take notice of the little things while you walk.
2)    Play with your children or pets. Not only can this be fun for you, but there is nothing more humbling than your own children.
3)    Listen to music. Any music you find inspirational will work. I have found if you listen to just the right song, it can inspire your brain enough to work for hours.
4)    Workout. This one I usually combine with music. The physical strain and raised heart rate can help brain functioning and energy levels.
5)    Take a short nap. Emphasis on short. 15-20 minutes tops. This is just enough time to let your brain have a break without altering your regular sleep pattern.
6)    Cook or bake something. Cooking and baking are very creative tasks and are also pretty structured and make your brain work in different way.

You will also find that you will discover your own ways of distracting yourself enough to let the block go. Good luck!
